Well Hello PPODS Community, I just wanted to invite you to our next monthly meeting on May 24th. The topic of the month will be Least Restrictive Environment in the school. This presentation is intended to address concerns about inclusion of children with special needs in the general education classrooms. Questions about homeschooling will be address as well. JOIN US, and feel free to invite more people interested. I will send a flyer for those who would like to have the reminder in their fridges and for our fellows providers who would like to post it in their websites or their bulletin boards. In the meantime, have a wonderful weekend! Betty Kiesling President of the Pocono Parents Of children with Down Syndrome (570) 476-1269 www.ThePPODS.org

Hello All!
Please take a look at the site for this year and let me know if you see any problems. My pictures were limited again, so I used what I had. Please let me know what you all think and if it looks ok to set it "live" so we can get moving on this.
Thanks,
Rob

Good Evening everyone!

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful year, can't wait to see all of you in October! Well. it's that time again, the 2012 Buddy Walk site is up and running (hopefully without any hitches), let's get a head start on getting our teams formed. Let's make this year's bigger and better than ever. I've already met a few new families that will be joining us this year, I can't wait. Anyway, remember that the date is set for Sat. Oct. 6th from 11-3 at Dansbury Park again. If there are any questions about the registration or the Day itself, please feel free to contact me (BuddyWalk@ThePPODS.org). As always, I'm looking for some committee volunteers to lend a hand, (hint, hint). Well enough for tonight, here is the link to the registration site that you can all start sending around, and I'm sure that we will have this new link added to our website very soon as well, good luck, talk soon,
Rob Kiesling

FYI

Attention Monroe County Parents of Children With Disabilities:

Crossing Abilities needs your help! Crossing Abilities is a project to construct Monroe County's FIRST and currently ONLY all inclusive playground. In an effort to further our cause, we are creating a video/slideshow, as well as updating our website and brochure, and we need you and your children to help us show why Monroe County desperately needs an all-inclusive playground. What can you do??

Currently we are looking for:
- Photos of your children playing and doing other activities for our slideshow.
- Parents willing to be videotaped talking about their children and their needs for an appropriate place to play.
- Children who like to sing, who would join with a group of 10-15 children to sing a short song about our playground.

If you can help, please contact Ken Van Camp from Crossing Abilities, and BE A PART OF THE PLAN! If you are unable to assist in this request, we ask that you still contact us so you can get involved in this project and possibly future fundraising events and project activities. We are in need of volunteers and financial support and ask that you spread the word. Please visit our website and join our FaceBook page to see first hand all the wonderful things we are doing for you and other residents in Monroe County.
